Time to go out and hit the town with the girls. We are going to Bailey’s tonight for some fun. I love Bailey’s because it is a laid back atmosphere and I can play pool, listen to good music and maybe watch whatever game is on the TV. The place just fucking rocks. I decided to eat dinner there as well so I don’t have to cook before I go anywhere. No mess to clean up is the best part. I hate to clean. Jan and Steph are meeting me at the mall first so we can buy a birthday present for April. I think her birthday is Sunday, but we are going to celebrate tonight.

April will be so surprised when she gets there because we didn’t tell her we were going out. I hope she doesn’t read my blog today or it will ruin the surprise. I don’t think she will though, because she has to work late. We arranged everything with her boyfriend and he is her boss. That took care of things very neatly. Now to decide what I want to drink tonight. I am in the mood for White Russian’s. A nice creamy drink that is sweet and I won’t get too blitzed drinking it.

Fucking TV

I get hundreds of channels on cable and there isn’t a fucking thing good to watch on it. I hate that. Sometimes the line ups for the channels just seem to suck all at the same time. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind watching re runs if I haven’t seen them all, but this is ridiculous. The news is about the only thing interesting and all they are talking about is politics and stories about people killing kids and shit. I wish they could actually find something good to report, but those stories are few and far between.

I don’t care about so and so’s murder trial. Quit making people famous for killing their loved ones. It’s disgusting. All I hear about constantly is people who are on trial for murder. Why air the whole trail? Don’t people have anything better to do then to watch that crap? I have to shake my head over this because my fellow man seems obsessed with the macabre. Give us a break already and find a few stories that don’t involve people dying. Report about people helping each other instead of a bunch of disheartening stuff that makes me hate mankind. And people wonder why I drink. Pfffft !

Taking the little shits out

I decided to give my sister and her husband a little break and take the little shits out to the movies and to spend the night with Auntie Denise. Boy am I in trouble. The older they get the more they fight and I hope I am still sane tomorrow morning. So do we go see Beauty and the Beast or Alvin and the Chipmunks? I vote Alvin, but I am sure to get vetoed, just because I suggest it. Kids are so contrary sometimes, and my nieces and nephew are no exception.

So I wonder if I should take them to eat first and that way they wont want as much crap at the theater. Yup, good idea. Burger King and then the movies. I made sure to get the house kid proof before I bring them here after the movies. I also got cereal for in the morning, because last time I forgot and had to cook breakfast. Yea, I am not a morning person so this is easier. I even made sure the coffee pot was fixed and on auto, so it is ready when they wake me up. Too bad it is cold or we could have an early morning swim in the pool. They love that.

Dave and Busters

I fucking love Dave and Busters. It’s a place for grownups to be kids and kids to hang and have fun with the grownups. Like a Chucky Cheese for adults and bigger kids. They have awesome food and alcohol for the adults. My favorite food there is their ginormous burger and fries. It is the bomb. Full of grease and cheese and gooey goodness, topped with lettuce and tomatoes, there is no better burger. I like to have Island drinks with it when I go there. Something sweet and really cold just seems to hit the spot.

I give out their gift cards from time to time for holidays and birthdays. Nothing beats the games there and it doesn’t matter what age you are, everyone loves Dave and Busters. My favorite games are the motorcycle games where you sit on a fake bike. They are really cool to play and relatively easy. You will never catch me dancing in competition at that place because the people who play that are way too good. I can handle a little bit of driving competition though. Eat my dust as I cross the finish line. Almost time to get ready to go out. I am meeting the gang at D&B’s for dinner and fun.

Nates Got Canceled?!?

This pisses me off. I jest heard that the network has canceled the Nate Berkus Show. God damn them, anyway. I love this show. It comes on during the day, when I’m at work and can’t watch it. But then it comes on again at 1:00 am and I can actually catch the show. If I can’t catch it at night, then I try to TIVO it. But most nights I can watch it and I love this show. Its the last thing I see before I fall asleep. I wonder if I can start an outcry, a petition, a letter writing campaign? I want them to keep Nate around for a long time. He’s adorable and his shows are fun and interesting. There isn’t much else on TV these days that you can say these things about.

Quiet Christmas

All the presents are wrapped and the stockings are stuffed. I’m exhausted and have to get to bed. Thank God I don’t have any little kids that are going to wake up at the crack ass of dawn and want to open the presents that Santa brought them. My sister can deal with that joy and I will see my nieces and nephews at dinner tomorrow night.

I’m looking forward to sleeping in, having a late Christmas brunch, and then heading over to my sister’s house for the family dinner around 6:00 pm.

Thankfully, my mom is out of the hospital and will be able to come to the dinner. We have been so worried about her – this will be a special Christmas just having her home and healthy at her age.

Fresh Flowers

My mom is in the hospital. Of course we are all freaked out and want to know what is going on. I know she has good doctors and I know that they will take good care of her. But we worry anyway.

I want to send her some flowers but I’m having a hard time deciding what florist to use. I’m not familiar with any of the names on the list, and I’m not comfortable ordering online with a company that is only going to broker out my order and not even make it up like I want.

I guess in the morning I will just call a couple of these companies and ask them directly what they can make and how fast they can get the arrangement delivered to her room.

Nagging Messages

For years I have used Firefox for my browser. I just like it. Can’t explain why, but it just works for me. Sometimes I forget that a lot of people are using Internet Explorer and they are having a slightly different browsing experience from mine.

So lately when I log in to WordPress, I get a nagging message that I need to upgrade my Firefox. I’m like, WTF? Why does WordPress give a fuck about what browser I’m using and the why the fuck do they have to nag me about it? Let Firefox nag me about Firefox and let WordPress mind its own fucking business.

Making Notes

There is notebook beside my bed, with a pen always at the ready. I wish I could leave my laptop on and ready to go beside my bed, but that never works out. Sometimes what I’m thinking about as I’m waking up are the most important thoughts of my whole day. So I like to write myself notes about things on my mind. If I write them down it helps me stay organized and motivated.

Skipping Family Dinner Next Year

Have all the people in my fucked up family totally lost their minds?

We had the whole family together at my brother’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone was acting like an ass the entire day. People were arguing, bitching and whining. I did not enjoy the day one little bit.

Even at the dinner table, these so-called adults were rude and obnoxious. I could not believe what a terrible display they all put on for each other. I am skipping Thanksgiving with them next year. That sucked big time and ruined my whole day.

Kids Games

When I was a kid we played games every Sunday afternoon when the weather was too bad to be outside. My parents kept a bunch of board games, cards and dice in the hall closet. We used to play Monopoly a lot – it was one of our favorite ways to spend 3-4 hours together.

Another board game that I liked a lot was Clue. That game always had me fascinated with figuring out who did it, in what room, and with what weapon. I always thought the game Clue was partly educational, as you had to learn about gathering clues and making logical assumptions.

No Cheese

My boyfriend does not eat cheese. He is not allergic to it – he just doesn’t like it. He also says that it is not healthy. It is so bad that if someone actually gives him a cheeseburger instead of a hamburger, that he will throw it away, uneaten, rather than scrape off the unwanted cheese and eat it. He says you can never scrape off all the cheese once it has melted.

I feel sorry for him. I love cheese, I like it as a source of calcium and I like the taste. I cannot imagine going the rest of my life without ever eating a cheeseburger or mac and cheese again.

Yard Sale Season

This whole past month, maybe 5 weeks or more, has been Yard Sale Season around here. I mean, there is a fucking yard sale sign on the corner by the stop sign every fucking Thursday and Friday.

Since when did Thursday become the optimum yard sale day? Who the fuck has time on a Thursday to drive around neighborhoods and poke their grubby fingers through everyone else’s junk? Don’t these people have jobs?

Count Chockolah

Ceramic Knife

Have you seen that late night commercial for the Yoshi Blade ceramic knife? The demonstration is pretty convincing. The ceramic knife cuts through almost anything and stays sharp without ever needing sharpening. That sounds too good to be true.

Lucky Penny

Today I got out of the car and looked down at the pavement and found a shiny new penny. The penny was heads up. I think that the heads up part is important because that brings you good luck. I was told by a kid waiting at his bus stop that if you find a penny with the tails up you should leave it laying there. Tails up supposedly means bad luck and if you pick up that tails up penny then you pick up the bad luck that day, too.
