All the presents are wrapped and the stockings are stuffed. I’m exhausted and have to get to bed. Thank God I don’t have any little kids that are going to wake up at the crack ass of dawn and want to open the presents that Santa brought them. My sister can deal with that joy and I will see my nieces and nephews at dinner tomorrow night.

I’m looking forward to sleeping in, having a late Christmas brunch, and then heading over to my sister’s house for the family dinner around 6:00 pm.

Thankfully, my mom is out of the hospital and will be able to come to the dinner. We have been so worried about her – this will be a special Christmas just having her home and healthy at her age.

I spent the night checking in with friends and family seeing how they were dealing with the hurricane on Facebook. It was all a buzz up until about midnight and then it got pretty quite, I got bored and finally hit the sack around 1:00am. Good thing that today is Sunday because I normal don’t stay up that late and I got to sleep in until about noon.

I’m so glad that Irene wasn’t as bad as well all had anticipated. We have had way too much excitement this week, what with the earthquake and then the hurricane.

I don’t know why they don’t do it every year, but it’s been a while since the last one. It’s a great day for families, but there are tons of guys who go to this event and tons of serious camera geeks who take thousands of photos of all the planes, jets and helicopters. You can just breathe in the testosterone in the air when you get there.

For the family Thanksgiving dinner that was held at my parents house my kid brother had the insight to bring several DVDs that he had made from the old home movies that were on VHS and had no sound. He had them playing on the big screen in the family room so that everyone was able to watch and enjoy them as we were waiting for the food to be ready and then while we pigged out and there was even plenty enough left to continue playing and entertaining until the last people left.

It was awesome to see these videos along with the family and friends that gathered that day. I have to hand it to my brother setting the whole thing up. Maybe one day one of us will take the time and put music together with them all, but that will take a lot of time and effort so I don’t see it happening any time soon.

Hard to believe that the Holidays are right around the corner. I swear it feels like we just took down the Christmas lights from last year’s festivities all though I know it has been a while. I just don’t know where the time goes. The older I get the faster the time flies right by be. There is something to be said about the old saying of “Youth is wasted on the young”

I’ve all ready managed to get some of my Christmas shopping done through out the year. Picking up things here and there instead of waiting for the last minute like I’ve been so prone for doing in the past. I’m also going to try and stay away from stores and malls as much as possible and get the majority of my shopping done online. That way I don’t have to deal with all the hassles that go along with the yearly task of Christmas shopping.

My parents are getting up in their years and we have all been trying to think of ways to help them out in any way that we can. With the holidays fast approaching we are concerned about the amount of work that is needed in order to put on the big Thanksgiving dinner and then 4 weeks later having to do it all over again for Christmas. So we are going to approach the folks with the idea of splitting up the holiday dinners so that mom isn’t so over whelmed each year. I don’t know what to expect from her about the issue but it’s worth talking to her about it and soon.
